I've been terrible at updating the blog lately. It's been very busy around our house. We have been preparing for Christmas, celebrating family birthdays, visiting with family & friends, and taking care of the usual chores and activities at home. We are also getting ready to put our house on the market in January, and looking for a bigger home in Coppell. We've definitely outgrown the space in our home now, and are excited to upgrade to something with a little more room for Jackson to play. Needless to say, there is a lot going on! I will try to be better at posting, especially pictures of our little one. He's growing up too fast, and I want to make sure I capture as many moments as I can!

My boys

On the move!

On your mark...

Get Set...

He is ALWAYS on the go now! If he's not on the ground scootin' and rollin' around, he is wishing that he was. This boy is on the go!

Jackson has changed SO MUCH in just the last week or 2. He is up on all fours, rocking back and forth, and scooting forwards. I wouldn't say he is crawling yet, but he's not too far from that.

He has 2 teeth! They are both on the bottom. I tried to get a good picture of it, but this is as good as it gets. If you look closely, you can see the two white teeth on the bottom, middle.

Our chunky monkey is still eating like a champ! And speaking of eating...guess who can feed himself his bottle now??!!

7 months old!

I wish I had a recent picture of Jackson, but I haven't been good about taking photos lately. The latest pictures we have are from Halloween. I'll have to get better about this, because our baby is growing up and changing so much.

Today, Jackson is 7 months old! And the biggest news lately is...he has his first tooth! It's the bottom, left tooth in the very front. The right one is also about to break through any day now. I'll attempt to take a picture soon, although he usually isn't very cooperative with showing his gums.

He is still learning and discovering new things each day. He loves his new sitter, Amy, and is having so much fun playing with Leah & Logan. Every morning that I've dropped him off, he's always had HUGE smiles for Amy and the kiddos. I just love it! You can tell he is having a great time.

Happy 7 month birthday, Jackson! You bring more joy to our lives than we ever thought possible. We love you VERY much, and cannot wait to see all that you learn this month!
Love, Mommy & Daddy

Jackson's new sitter

Scott and I have been incredibly fortunate & blessed to have my mom watching Jackson ever since I went back to work in June. Jackson LOVES his Nanna, and my mom has enjoyed keeping him as well. You can tell they have such a strong bond...it is so sweet. Recently, my mom's back has been hurting her quite a bit...and it was time to find someone else to take care of our sweet boy. My mom will still watch him on Wednesday mornings, which I know she is really excited about.

At first, I was a mess - anxious about finding the perfect place for Jackson. I knew that I was not comfortable taking him to a daycare facility, so I started asking around to see if people knew of any nannies, or in-home day cares. I really started praying about it, asking God to find the right place for Jackson, and that my fears and worries would subside.

I'm not even kidding, within 1 day, I received a response back from Scott's cousin, Amy Davis, and she volunteered herself as a sitter! Amy was in the in-home daycare business before she moved to Coppell, and is such an amazing woman. She always has a smile on her face. She has such passion for life, her family, and her faith. I could not have asked for a better answer to my prayer. She has two precious children of her own, Leah & Logan...and I am SO excited I'll be getting to see more of her & her sweet family!!

Tomorrow is Jackson's first day at the Davis' house. Here are a few sweet pictures of Amy's visit to see Jackson when he was first born.

Amy's adorable little girl - Leah

I didn't get any pictures of Logan while they were at our house...so I'll have to get one of him so you can see how adorable he is!

Growing up too fast!

Jackson's 6 month checkup was a few weeks ago...I've been terrible at posting lately. He weighed in at 20 lbs. 7 oz. , and is 27 1/2 in. long. He's 90th %ile for both weight and height. We're loving every second with him!
He is changing a lot right now. He has new mannerisms almost everyday, and is learning all kinds of stuff. He can pretty much sit up by himself - we just stay close by in case he gets excited, and falls down. He is army crawling, and trying to figure out how to get up on all fours. He has learned how to shake his head "no", although I'm not sure if he knows exactly what he's doing. He sure likes to do it when he doesn't want something, so I think he understands at least a little. His 2 bottom front teeth are ready to push through any day now, you can see how white they are through the skin. This has caused quite the fussiness, and we've been best friends with teethers, Hyland's teething tablets, and Tylenol.

Enjoy a few recent pictures of our precious boy!

Our little lion

I was sick on Halloween...so we didn't get to go anywhere as planned. But we dressed Jackson up in his costume, and got to take some fun pictures w/ the grandparents as well. Here's our sweet little lion on his first Halloween. :)

Moments of Grace

To be perfectly honest, I have been STRESSED OUT lately. Like, ridiculously stressed out, and on edge, and grumpy, and bad attitude to the max. The responsibilities of holding a full time job in Corporate America, taking care of my husband & 6 month old, and trying to take care of myself, all started to topple on me. Until yesterday...

I had the opportunity, through work, to attend a Get Motivated seminar that is put on each year. After sitting for 2 hours in stand still traffic, and driving around for another 30 minutes in downtown Ft. Worth, I finally found a parking spot and walked about 10 blocks in the cold, wet, rain to the convention center. You can guess that by this point, I was not exactly motivated.

I missed the first 2 or 3 speakers, since I arrived about an hour and a half late...but it didn't matter. There was really only 1 or 2 speakers I needed to hear that day. What a privilege to be able to hear former President George W. Bush speak! I know that several people don't agree with his presidential decisions, but I'm telling you that he changed me yesterday. There are special moments of grace, in life, where you are reminded, and re-taught, and touched by the ongoing message of God's love for us, and the values we stand for as followers of Christ, and as Americans. I won't go into detail in this post about everything he said, (maybe that will be another post sometime), but I will tell you that George W. Bush is a wonderful man, and he has touched my life. Even though I've heard the same message over and over, my entire life, there was something different this time, and I am extremely grateful.

6 months old today!

Where has the time gone?! I feel like Scott and I got married, we blinked an eye...and we were pregnant. Then we blinked again, had a baby, and now he's 6 MONTHS OLD!!! It's Jackson's half birthday!! I can't believe how much he has changed in just 6 short months. We are having SO MUCH FUN with him! He loves to smile, laugh, and play. He's rolling all over the place, sitting up pretty well (almost by himself), and making all kinds of funny sounds. He enjoys blowing raspberries - especially while I'm feeding him. It's funny most of the time, but sometimes not so much.

I love making his baby food. He has tried peas, green beans, squash, and sweet potatoes. Pumpkin is next, and then we'll start introducing fruits. The boy LOVES food. He gets pretty agitated when you eat in front of him, and don't share. I try to explain to him that he'll be able to taste our food in a few more months...but he wants it NOW.

Enjoy the slide show of pictures from his past 2 months:

The quality of this video is not superb...but it is still pretty cute. Scott took it with the video camera on his phone. He sure can make our little boy giggle!

Scott got his wisdom teeth out yesterday. He is recovering very well! It's hard to not feel better when you have such a sweet baby to cuddle with. :)

For all you LOST fans out there

Veggie Tales

Peas are now a go. He isn't a HUGE fan of them, but he'll eat them...and I'll take it. In fact, he'll eat pretty much anything you put in front of him. :) Hence the 20+ lb baby we have on our hands. He also STARES at you when you eat your meal. Scott and I were having dinner tonight, and he was giving us the stare down.

Next up: green beans. We're starting with the green veggies first, then moving to others like squash, sweet potatoes, etc. After we've established veggies, we'll introduce fruits. I LOVE making his baby food, and I think I get more excited about it than Jackson does. Wait, no...that's not possible.

Peas = Hysterical

So we started an experiment last night. PEAS! Jackson is not quite a fan yet (this boy takes after his daddy in more ways than his good looks). I would feed him a bite, and he would scrunch up his face, and look at me with this awful look that I've never seen before, and I could not help from just dying laughing. I'm laughing all over again just thinking about it now. He has quite the facial expressions. Scott took some video of it, so I'll have to get it posted here at some point.

I've been so excited to start making his baby food. I have a ton of recipes, and I'm hoping that eventually we'll run across a veggie that he likes. For now, we'll try peas a few more days to see if he changes his mind. It's not looking good. :)

Great Weekend!

I took off work Thursday & Friday, and had a nice, long weekend! Jackson and I had a lot of special time together, which I am SO thankful for. It was also Scott's birthday, so we spent the weekend celebrating several times. :) Mimi also watched Jackson overnight on Friday night, so Scott and I could go out w/ Angie & Rodney. This was the first time we've gone out (other than to dinner) since Jackson was born. The bar we went to was quite hilarious - we were the youngest people there by many years. We spent a lot of time people watching and laughing our heads off...it was a lot of fun! I love long weekends!!

Pumpkin Patch!

We went to the Dallas Arboretum on Sunday. It figures that after a week of cool weather, it would be STEAMING on Sunday while we were there. The poor babies were sooo hot...so we didn't stay long. Here are some fun fall pictures we got at the pumpkin patch.

The boy LOVES to smile!

He also loves to sleep....especially on daddy's chest (and what a handsome daddy he has!)

Do you think he has enough toys?! And this is just a few of them.

Just hangin' out together. :)

Roly Poly

My mom just called me at work to tell me that our little one has just rolled over from his back to his tummy. Jackson has been working on this for quite some time now, and has been getting sooo close, so we knew it would be any day now.

I HATE that I am missing his firsts. I know it's silly, but I really wish I was there to see him do these things for the first time, and not be at work. I'll get over it...but I'm just a little saddened by this.

Anywho...I'm done whining. YAY, JACKSON!

Our baby is 5 months old!!!

Enjoy this video of daddy making Jackson laugh:

Great-Grandma Wortman

Last weekend, we went to visit my Grandma Wortman. She was SO excited to see Jackson...it was too precious! I love this picture of my dad, grandma, and Jackson. Too bad he's not looking straight at the camera.

My handsome nephews

I have been a TERRIBLE aunt, and have not been posting enough pictures of my sweet nephews. Here are a few recent pictures of the boys. They are 7 months old now, and getting SO BIG!

Football & Friends

Labor Day Weekend, we had some of our friends from high school over to watch football and hang out. Here are a few cute pictures of our little ones together. :)

Jackson w/ his buddy Tucker.
Tucker is Grant & Jill's precious one that was born 1 day after Jackson.

Jackson, Sage, and Tucker

Sage just turned 1 a few months ago, and is Cody & Amy's little girl. She's going to be a big sister!! We are very excited for Cody & Amy's baby boy that will be born in early 2010.

92 Years

My grandmother turned 92 on Friday, September 4th. What an incredible life she has lived (and continues to live)! Mary Alice Reinhardt is a VERY strong woman. It is obvious to me that my mom has inherited this quality from my grandma. Grandma Reinhardt has been through A LOT. She is on several medications, has endured several hospital visits, and yet never ceases to amaze us with her incredible strength to pull through it all. I want to be 92 and strong like her. She is inspiring to all of us!

A few current sayings of hers that are just TOO precious:
  • When Scott asks her how she's doing...she ALWAYS replies: "I'm better!"
  • When I come to my parents' house (where she also lives), she always asks me right off the bat "Where's my baby!?" She calls Jackson "her baby."
  • When she holds Jackson, and touches his feet (no matter how cold they are, or aren't), she emphatically says "Ohhhh that poor baby's feet are cold! Put some SOCKS on that baby's feet!"
I love you, Grams! Here's to celebrating 92 years of your beautiful life! I have been blessed to grow up under your love and care, and am so thankful for you!

Jackson's new favorite activities

Cereal Face

Doesn't he look like such a BIG boy in his high chair? He's growing up too fast!!!!

Fun times @ 4 months

Besides the beginning of rice cereal, here are a few other exciting things going on in Jackson's world:
  • He has been playing in his excersaucer, and loving it. He has learned how to push all of the buttons, and make LOUD noises. :)
  • We bought him a doorway jumper, and he is slowly figuring out how to workout those chunky legs and bounce, bounce, bounce. Too cute! This contraption also has LOUD noises that Jackson quickly learned how to make by pressing buttons.
  • He loves to be holding something, and usually the object ends up in his mouth. Mimi bought him a 2 sided blanket/animal thingy. I don't know what you call it, other than a lovie. It is a little puppy, named Spot, that is holding a blanket. The blanket is soft fleece on one side, and silky fabric on the other side. Jackson LOVES to hold this, and shove every part of the puppy into his mouth. Nanna bought him a monkey rattle, which is probably Jackson's favorite toy to play with. He shakes it, and of course shoves the monkeys into his mouth.
  • Jackson's sleep habits are about the same. He sleeps through the night every night, and we are sooo blessed for that. We put him down after his 8:30 feeding at night, and I wake him up to eat at 6:30 in the morning. We never have problems there. However, he rarely naps well during the day. The only way to ensure that he naps longer than 45 minutes is to have him sleep on your chest. He likes to snuggle!
  • Our boy LOVES to stand up. If you're holding him in your lap, chances are he'll try to extend those legs and stand....just LOVES it. Scott tried an experiment one day, and stood him up next to the excersaucer where he could hold on with his hands. And there he stood...all by himself, holding onto the excersaucer. We were proud.

I can't think of anything else ..but I'm sure I'll think of some more things later. I'm super tired right now, so I'm off to bed.

4 month doctor visit

Jackson had his 4 month visit with Dr. Pam today. Overall he is doing GREAT!!! He was taken off his reflux medicine, because she thinks he doesn't need it anymore. The dose he was taking was basically ineffective at this point based on how much weight he'd put on. Since he hasn't gotten any fussier with the spitting up, she thinks it's fine to just take him off the meds.

We got the okay to begin rice cereal. We gave it to him for the first time tonight, and he LOVED it! At first, he was all "what is this?" But soon he got the hang of it, and was almost asking for more in between bites. Side note - our little boy is a quick learner. You only have to show him how to do something once or twice, and he has it down. I love this about him!

Here are some of his stats:
  • Weight: 17 lbs 9 oz. WOWZA! (90th percentile)
  • Height: 25 3/4 in. (85th percentile)
  • Head size: 17 1/4 in (85th percentile)

While we were @ Dr. Pam's he was showing her his skills. She put him on his tummy so he could show her how strong he was at holding himself up. He quickly rolled over on his back, so she put him on his tummy again....aaaand then he rolled over on his back. :) What a show off! Now if we can just get him to figure out how to roll from his back to his tummy!

We ended the visit with 2 of his 4-month shots, and wailed our way out of the office.

Precious Picture of the Day

I snapped this photo w/ my phone this morning (which explains why it's a little blurry). He just looks so sweet and innocent to me in this picture. I LOVE HIM!

4 months!

Another month has come & gone, and our baby boy is growing up FAST! Please turn up your volume & enjoy the slideshow.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20

Jackson was baptized on Saturday. Here are a few pictures from the special day.

Mimi made his suit - so sweet!

"...in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

1 Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to my husband of 1 year! Where has the time gone?!

Scott's parents graciously watched Jackson for us last night while we stayed in downtown Ft. Worth at the new Omni hotel. It was a very nice hotel, and we received first class treatment.

I ordered a mini version of our groom's cake for us to enjoy.

Champagne & dipped fruit upon our arrival at the hotel

Dinner @ Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

14 weeks!

I'm just hangin' out in daddy's recliner & smiling about it.

Trying out my bumbo, and getting practice sitting up.

We thought it was so funny that he had twisted his body into this shape. His legs were in a funny position too, but you can't exactly tell from this picture.

Sitting up in the glider. I like to glide back and forth!
