Moments of Grace

To be perfectly honest, I have been STRESSED OUT lately. Like, ridiculously stressed out, and on edge, and grumpy, and bad attitude to the max. The responsibilities of holding a full time job in Corporate America, taking care of my husband & 6 month old, and trying to take care of myself, all started to topple on me. Until yesterday...

I had the opportunity, through work, to attend a Get Motivated seminar that is put on each year. After sitting for 2 hours in stand still traffic, and driving around for another 30 minutes in downtown Ft. Worth, I finally found a parking spot and walked about 10 blocks in the cold, wet, rain to the convention center. You can guess that by this point, I was not exactly motivated.

I missed the first 2 or 3 speakers, since I arrived about an hour and a half late...but it didn't matter. There was really only 1 or 2 speakers I needed to hear that day. What a privilege to be able to hear former President George W. Bush speak! I know that several people don't agree with his presidential decisions, but I'm telling you that he changed me yesterday. There are special moments of grace, in life, where you are reminded, and re-taught, and touched by the ongoing message of God's love for us, and the values we stand for as followers of Christ, and as Americans. I won't go into detail in this post about everything he said, (maybe that will be another post sometime), but I will tell you that George W. Bush is a wonderful man, and he has touched my life. Even though I've heard the same message over and over, my entire life, there was something different this time, and I am extremely grateful.

6 months old today!

Where has the time gone?! I feel like Scott and I got married, we blinked an eye...and we were pregnant. Then we blinked again, had a baby, and now he's 6 MONTHS OLD!!! It's Jackson's half birthday!! I can't believe how much he has changed in just 6 short months. We are having SO MUCH FUN with him! He loves to smile, laugh, and play. He's rolling all over the place, sitting up pretty well (almost by himself), and making all kinds of funny sounds. He enjoys blowing raspberries - especially while I'm feeding him. It's funny most of the time, but sometimes not so much.

I love making his baby food. He has tried peas, green beans, squash, and sweet potatoes. Pumpkin is next, and then we'll start introducing fruits. The boy LOVES food. He gets pretty agitated when you eat in front of him, and don't share. I try to explain to him that he'll be able to taste our food in a few more months...but he wants it NOW.

Enjoy the slide show of pictures from his past 2 months:

The quality of this video is not superb...but it is still pretty cute. Scott took it with the video camera on his phone. He sure can make our little boy giggle!

Scott got his wisdom teeth out yesterday. He is recovering very well! It's hard to not feel better when you have such a sweet baby to cuddle with. :)

For all you LOST fans out there

Veggie Tales

Peas are now a go. He isn't a HUGE fan of them, but he'll eat them...and I'll take it. In fact, he'll eat pretty much anything you put in front of him. :) Hence the 20+ lb baby we have on our hands. He also STARES at you when you eat your meal. Scott and I were having dinner tonight, and he was giving us the stare down.

Next up: green beans. We're starting with the green veggies first, then moving to others like squash, sweet potatoes, etc. After we've established veggies, we'll introduce fruits. I LOVE making his baby food, and I think I get more excited about it than Jackson does. Wait, no...that's not possible.

Peas = Hysterical

So we started an experiment last night. PEAS! Jackson is not quite a fan yet (this boy takes after his daddy in more ways than his good looks). I would feed him a bite, and he would scrunch up his face, and look at me with this awful look that I've never seen before, and I could not help from just dying laughing. I'm laughing all over again just thinking about it now. He has quite the facial expressions. Scott took some video of it, so I'll have to get it posted here at some point.

I've been so excited to start making his baby food. I have a ton of recipes, and I'm hoping that eventually we'll run across a veggie that he likes. For now, we'll try peas a few more days to see if he changes his mind. It's not looking good. :)

Great Weekend!

I took off work Thursday & Friday, and had a nice, long weekend! Jackson and I had a lot of special time together, which I am SO thankful for. It was also Scott's birthday, so we spent the weekend celebrating several times. :) Mimi also watched Jackson overnight on Friday night, so Scott and I could go out w/ Angie & Rodney. This was the first time we've gone out (other than to dinner) since Jackson was born. The bar we went to was quite hilarious - we were the youngest people there by many years. We spent a lot of time people watching and laughing our heads off...it was a lot of fun! I love long weekends!!
