1/2 Marathon Training - Weeks 3 & 4

Our family is just beginning to feel healthy again, which excites me. This means I am getting back on track with my 1/2 marathon training schedule. :)

Over the last 2 weeks, my runs were sporadic. I've picked back up, and loved running in the beautiful weather over the weekend. Friday's run was a little hard - 4.5 miles in the 70 degree weather...with the sun beating down...after 2 weeks off from running. I felt a little dehydrated during the run, and didn't run as well as I'd hoped. Sunday, I ran my long run with my sister. We ran 6 miles in beautiful 60 degree weather. It was so great! I'm sore today, but not as bad as I thought I'd be.

Hooray for feeling well again, and hooray for getting back into training. I feel encouraged, and motivated. Here's to hoping the next 8 weeks go well, and we can all stay healthy with this up and down weather!

Stay away from The Echols

Our house has been a breeding ground for a virus for about 2 weeks now. First it was me, then Scott, and now Jackson has croup. We've gone through several boxes of tissues. We've coughed until our lungs ached, and our stomachs were sore. And we're looking forward to all being healthy and well again. I know it's coming soon...it pretty much has to. There is nobody left in our house to go down. :)
I took Jackson to the doctor this morning, and he had a good time in the Star Wars room. He was looking around at everything, asking "What's that? What's that?" Even when he doesn't feel well, this little boy is such a joy.
I hope you feel better soon, Jackson!

1/2 Marathon Training - Week 2

So the beginning of week 2 was going great. I managed to run outside in the FREEZING cold on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. And then I woke up Saturday morning feeling absolutely horrible. I've been sick since then, and am not too sure when to start running again. I just know that today isn't the day. I'm running in a race on Sunday morning, so I hope I'll be well enough to at least run 1 or 2 times before the race. If not, oh well...it's just a 5k, and I'm not running to win. :)

Here's to hoping I am recovered and healthy soon, so I can get back on track again.

1/2 Marathon Training - Week 1

I've officially completed week 1 of my 12 week training program for the Rock 'n Roll 1/2 Marathon. Woo!! This week went very smoothly - probably because the longest of my 5 runs was only 3 miles. I'll let you know how I'm feeling when I'm hitting 7/8/9 miles. :)

I've been fortunate to run 3 out of my 5 runs this week with a running partner! Tuesday night, I ran with my dad. Wednesday night, I ran hills with Scott. And today, I ran with my sister. It was a snowy/wet mess, so we decided to run our 3 miles indoors at the gym, on the treadmill. I have to say, I was thankful for not being in the 30 degree cold, but it is BORING running on a treadmill. I much prefer being outdoors, with fresh air, and scenery.

Week 1 of training = SUCCESS. Here's to hoping the next 11 weeks are as successful as the first.

Dallas Stars!

Last night, Aunt Kari graciously babysat for us so Scott and I could go to the Stars game. I surprised him with tickets for Christmas, and we've been looking forward to it ever since. We had a great time on our date!

Aunt Kari brought Jackson a Thomas & Friends DVD when she came to babysit. What a treat! Jackson curled up on the couch with Aunt Kari to start watching.

We were so close to the ice, it felt like we could reach out and touch the players. A very cool way to see the game!

Christmas Fun - Part 3

After Jackson played with his presents from Santa, and opened his presents from us, we packed up and headed over to my parents for breakfast. Angie, Rodney, Preston and Parker came over too. We had a lot of fun playing, eating yummy food, and opening our presents from Nanna & PawPaw.

My adorable nephew, Parker, in the cutest snow hat ever. Preston had a cookie monster one, but I couldn't get him to stand still long enough to take his picture. :)

Jackson in front of Nanna & PawPaw's fireplace. He loves the manger scene, and pointing out "Jesus!"

Jackson trying out his cozy coupe from Nanna & PawPaw. This was a huge hit! He loves to drive that thing around.

Preston & Parker in their 2 seater red wagon from Nanna & PawPaw. They loved it, but were a little more excited about their Dora books. They have a crush on her. :)

Later that day, my family came to our house to have Christmas Dinner. It was my first time to host a holiday dinner, and it turned out great! This is a picture of all 3 cousins (a.k.a Picassos) playing with the art easel that Aunt G & Uncle Rodney got Jackson. It was a huge hit!

Christmas Fun - Part 2

On Christmas morning, we were so excited to wake Jackson up and let him see what Santa brought him. :)

Jackson was really into Christmas this year. He had fun opening all of his gifts from us and from the family. He loved the train table that Santa brought him, and was memorized by the tree the entire month it was up. He really likes snowmen, Santa, and singing Jingle Bells. :) I can't wait for next year, when he'll be into it even more!

Christmas Fun - Part 1

We spent Christmas Eve with the Echols/Deutsch family this year. Jackson had a blast playing with his cousin Luke while he was in town over the Christmas break. He also really enjoyed spending time with Aunt Katherine (Kat-Kat) and Uncle Jason, especially since we don't get to see them as often as our other family members. He definitely got to soak it all in for a great 3 weeks.

Uncle Jason was in Wisconsin, working on his grandmother's old house for pretty much the whole 3 weeks, but we did get some great time with him for a couple of nights. Here are some pictures from our time with the Echols/Deutsch families.

Sweet cousins. Luke is such a great cousin, and is so patient, kind, and sharing with Jackson. We are so thankful for him!

Family picture on Christmas Eve. We missed you, Jason!!

There is a great video of a dance party that we had, and I believe it's on Scott's iPhone. I'll have to download it soon, and post it separately. Good times were had by all!

Love to watch him sleep

This is not a great picture...but this is a picture of our video monitor, and a view of what I was watching before I went to sleep the other night. Jackson is sleeping with his legs tucked under him, and his hiney in the air. I used to love sleeping like this when I was a kid.
