Memorial Weekend

We had a wonderful "staycation" with my parents, and my sister's family.  The cousins had a blast playing together all weekend...and The Great Wolf Lodge was the highlight of it all.  I didn't get any pictures of the fun times at the waterpark, because I didn't want my phone to get stolen or submerged in water.  But trust me, they had a ball playing in the kiddie pool, going down the kiddie water slides, and jumping over the waves in the shallow end of the wave pool.  (and with the help of the grandparents, the adults snuck away to ride a few of the big kid waterslides as well...and they were awesome!)  I did get some pretty cute pics of the kiddos during the other highlights.

Waiting for story time to begin.

Pajama story time

You couldn't really hear the storytime very well, so they didn't stay long.  My parents bought the three boys a MagiQuest wand, and they went exploring 7 floors of the hotel to make some magic with their wands.  The kids had a blast!

What a cutie with his wand and wolf ears!!

After MagiQuest, Big Dave fell asleep on the couch in the hotel room, while Nanna watched a few cartoons with the kiddos and got them settled for bed.

Meanwhile, the 4 adult kids took a break from the kiddie activites to have a drink on the hotel's big balcony.  But not before a photo op with this raccoon!

Enjoying the outdoors and a cocktail with our feet reclined.  :)

The next evening, after we all went to church together, we hosted everyone at our house for a pizza night and a little Wii Bowling action.

Seester was TIRED!  She is nicknamed "The Machine" or "The Robot" because of her non-stop energy and go-go-go personality.  You do not find her like this very often, but this machine ran out of gas.  I had to take a picture to document the occasion. :)

The next day the big boys headed out to Cowboys golf course to play 18 holes of golf.  After they were done golfing, we all had a pool party at Nanna & PawPaw's, and Nanna grilled out some yummy steaks.  We had a great time together, and a successful staycation.  A wonderful Memorial Weekend for sure!

Good times with Mimi & Grand-dad

Scott and his dad play racquetball together a few times a week at The Hilton in Grapevine.  They have such a great time together, and occasionally invite us to join them afterwards for dinner at the hotel restaurant.  We've only been twice now, and the waitress already knows who we are, and has a special table for us.  (This mostly turned out as a fluke, but I believe we will continue sitting there as we go back...it's become a tradition!)  This time, after dinner, we headed over to Bass Pro Shops so Jackson could see the fish tank, and play in the boats.  Mimi & Grand-dad joined us as well.

Captain Jackson

And of course we all had to get eaten by the shark...Jackson's turn

Mimi got eaten head first

And then Grand-dad!

Love these handsome boys!!

Dave concert

We had a blast this year at the DMB concert with Mary & Todd.  We had a lovely dinner at their home before the concert, and enjoyed a wonderful evening on the lawn.  Perfection!  This is going to become a tradition...I see many more years of this exact scenario in our future!

The newlyweds :)

Love Miss Mary Jo!

We met this fella while dancing to the music, and became concert buddies.  He liked to dance, too! :)

3 day weekend!!

It's here!!  The long Memorial Day weekend is finally here!!!  This weekend we are doing a staycation with my family.  We couldn't ever get around to planning a trip away somewhere, so we are going to just do stuff around the area and stay here.  Tomorrow, we are heading to the Great Wolf Lodge for some family fun!  We booked a suite, and are going to spend a night there and enjoy all of the kid-friendly activities at the hotel.  We are also planning a big barbeque one afternoon with some swimming at the pool.  I'm sure we will do a few more activities in between, so we're preparing for a busy and fun weekend.  I hope everyone has a great time with their families and friends!  Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

A new week

"But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me."
Micah 7:7

It's a new day, a new week, and there are new opportunities to serve and to love.  Lord, open my eyes to all that you will me to do this week for your kingdom.  Help me to fix my eyes on you, and not the things of this world....to focus on that which is eternal, and not temporary.

Mary is Married!

The first half of this year has been a lot of fun, planning and celebrating the festivities of Mary & Todd's wedding.  Mary had several bridal showers, we hosted a couples shower for Mary & Todd, and of course Mary's personal shower and bachelorette day-o-fun!  All of these fun activites led up to the big day and the BEAUTIFUL outdoor wedding at the arboretum.  Everything was gorgeous, and Mary was a beautiful bride.  Of course, I do not have super picture taking skills, but here are a few from my iPhone of the events I remembered to photograph.  :)

The day of Mary's personal shower...all of her bridesmaids (I'm behind the camera) having mimosas and breakfast before our day of fun.

After pedicures, we went out to lunch

We all got spa treatments at The Grand Spa after lunch.  Everyone had massages, except for Jacqueline who chose a pedicure and manicure.

We had the personal shower that afternoon

Hard to see but there is an adorable hanger that says mrs waida

Jacqueline's famous cupcakes!  So cute!

After the personal shower we went to dinner and dancing at The Shops of Legacy.  A night isn't complete without running into Darth Vader.

Dancing the night away

This picture was taken at Chocolate Angel after the Bridal Luncheon.  Love these two girls soooo much!

Hours away from walking down the aisle!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDE!  Soooo happy for Mary & Todd, and the amazing journey they are beginning together!

It's the weekend!!

It is FRIDAY!  By the grace of God, another work week has gone by! And now, it is time to soak up some quality time with family and friends this weekend.  I AM SO EXCITED!

We have no specific plans tonight, which is just fine by me.  I plan on running through the door when I get home from work, hugging the heck out of my two boys, and having a blast all evening long.

Tomorrow night, we get to see the Dave Matthews Band in concert!  Dave Matthews is just about our most favorite band ever, and we can't wait to hear some of their new stuff live.  It's been a few years since they've been to town, so Scott and I are looking forward to jamming out to some Dave with our wonderful friends (and newlyweds!) Mary & Todd.  We're so excited to have dinner with them at their new house before the concert, and hear all about their amazing honeymoon.

Sunday will be a nice day filled with church, errands, and relaxation.  Here's to a fun-filled weekend!!  The countdown has begun!  WAHOO!!!!

The simple things in life

Oh, to be able to see the world through the eyes of a child again!
To forget all the complicated parts of life, and to take in the simple joy of rolling down a hill.
I used to LOVE doing this when I was a kid!

I just can't get enough...

...of the smiles, the joy, and the laughter that come from this precious little boy!

Like grand-dad, like grandson

Jackson sure does love his grand-dad.  He mimics his every move.  How precious is this?!
