Landon turns ONE!

Our precious Godson, Landon, turned ONE on June 15th.  Travis & Jacqueline hosted the most adorable Elmo themed party for him.  Every single detail was perfect, and Jackson had a BLAST playing at their house.  We all had such a great time celebrating with Landon!

Jacqueline is SO talented...made the cake, the cupcakes, and so many more Elmo themed treats!

The flash from another camera kind of messed with the coloring of my photo.  :)  Still cute!

He had a ball playing in here at the party.  He was all sweated out by the end of the day.  :)

Having fun at home after the party - staying up WAY past his bed time!  :)

Houston Trip

My trip to Houston to visit Jessica was verrrryyyyy relaxing!  We had a great time catching up, relaxing, and pampering ourselves.

The drive down wasn't too terrible.  Once I got through the Houston traffic, I was a short drive away from Jessica's new condo in downtown Houston.  It's just minutes away from the Galleria and several wonderful restaurants/shopping/pampering venues.

Our first stop for the weekend: Sensia Studio & Japanese Day Spa for some pedicures!  Jessica treated me to a belated birthday present...so nice!

I don't think I've ever had a pedicure in a dark and quiet room before like this.  It was very interesting!  We didn't realize we were in a no-talking zone, until Jessica's lady asked us to be quiet.

Apparently we missed this sign on the wall:

After our wonderful pedicures (hot stone massage and all!), we went to dinner at a lovely New York Pizza & Pasta restaurant called Russo's.  They had delicious food and unbelievable cake!  We headed to the Red Box after dinner to rent This Means War with Reese Witherspoon & Chris Pine.  Cute movie!  A very low-key and relaxing evening for sure!

The next morning, we woke up and went for a run along a trail in Tanglewood.  It was so fun to look at all of the huge houses in the neighborhood, and dream!  :)

After we showered and got ready for the day, we headed down to Galveston with some of Jessica's friends from work.  As we were passing downtown Houston, the Pride Week festivities were beginning.  A little cultural experience never hurt anyone!

The guy without the shirt on is wearing some kind of dog harness?!  Not so sure...

We arrived in Galveston, parked ourselves on the beach, and relaxed in the sun!

The view from my seat. :)

After we enjoyed the beach for several hours, we headed to The Spot for dinner before returning to Houston.  I enjoyed meeting Jessica's friends, and having a nice and relaxing day in the sun.

Sunday morning, I woke up and headed back home to see my boys.  Tried to get a shot of good 'ole Sam Houston...but that's pretty hard to do while driving and paying attention to the road.  :)

Thank you, Jess, for letting me come stay with you for the weekend and have a little glimpse into your world!  Your condo is SO nice, your sweet LuLu puppy is precious, and your friends are great.  I had a great time catching up and relaxing all weekend with you.

Houston Bound!

I am SO excited that in less than 2 hours, I will be hitting the road to Houston for a weekend with this beautiful girl!  Jessica and I were sorority sisters and roommates for many semesters in college.  We have so many fun memories together, and I cannot wait to catch up and make some more!  I haven't seen her in soo long!!  Woo hoo for a girls weekend!

Jeremiah 29:13-14

"'Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. And I will lead you back from captivity.'"
Jeremiah 29:13-14

I am having a rough week.  I find comfort in the verse that I was lead to this morning.  When we are consumed by priorities, deadlines, budgets, responsibilities, etc. how do we maintain focus on the eternal and NOT allow the temporary to overwhelm us?  My prayer is for peace, for assurance, and for grace.  I am discouraged, and desperately need encouraging.  And I know there is only one who can truly provide what I need.  Lord, lead me back from captivity.

I have a short work week, as I am leaving Friday to go out of town for a girl's weekend with one of my college roommates.  I am so looking forward to this, and believe God has perfectly timed this much needed weekend of rest and rejuvenation.

Awesome birthday!

I had an awesome birthday this year!  The last one in my twenties was a great one, for sure!  I seriously am convinced that I have the best friends and family that anyone could wish for.

To start the celebrating off right, my closest friends Mary & Todd, and Jacqueline & Travis came to our house for a night of food and fun.  We started off the fun by playing a few rounds of Catch Phrase.

And the boys won...braggers!  :)

We then sat around the kitchen table and played some cards.  President & Vice President here.  :)

The next day, my family had a birthday celebration for me.  :)

I am so blessed by these women!  I love my mom and my seester SO much!

My sister got me this awesome "little black dress" jewelry organizer.  It is sooo great!  The green necklace on the right was a gift from Jacqueline from Francescas.  I've been wanting one of those necklaces since I saw them on Pinterest, and she surprised me with one!  So great!

Mary got me those cute candle holders with the candles - and they go perfectly in our beach bathroom! Love them!

More gifts from Scott, my parents, and my sister!  SPOILED!!

Those two beach photos will be framed and put in our beach bathroom.  The panoramic picture is one that Scott took with his iPhone while we were in Mexico last year.  He edited the picture and had it printed on canvas.  We're still figuring out how to frame/display it, but it is going to look so awesome in that bathroom.  And it is such a great memory!

On my birthday night, the three of us went out to dinner at Benihana.  Jackson was NOT in the mood for picture taking.  Ha!

But he was a huge fan of this guy's "tricks".

My mom made red velvet cupcakes for me, just because she knows they are my favorite.  What a sweet mom!  So we all shared this cupcake when we got home from dinner.

Thank you to everyone who made my birthday sooo special!  I had a great looong weekend/week celebrating with everyone.  I love you all SO much!!
